The World Rally Championship doubles up at Rallylegend 2026. After M-Sport Ford and the return of Lancia Corse HF, officially announced just a few days ago, it is now Hyundai Motorsport’s turn: it will be the second official World Rally Championship team present in San Marino, with Dani Sordo and Patricia Saiz on board the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 in gravel specification. But the San Marino “long weekend” will have another great scene set to fire up fans’ imagination: the Memorial Bettega, which after months of anticipation finally becomes part of Rallylegend’s history, bringing back to the track the head-to-head duel born under the spotlight of the Bologna Motorshow. Sixteen cars in four categories, WRC, Group B, ex-Group A and Rally2, for a top-level contest.
In Group A itself, the Trophy will tell one of the most fascinating stories in the history of Italian rallying, with Liatti, Trelles, Aghini, Navarra, Cunico, Longhi, Schwarz and Marchisio, while the Rallylegend Village will turn into an open-air museum with six original cars belonging to Sandro Munari, paying tribute to the great champion who recently passed away.
HYUNDAI MOTORSPORT RETURNS TO RALLYLEGEND: DANI SORDO AND PATRICIA SAIZ WITH THE I20 N RALLY1
The World Rally Championship finds another great protagonist in Hyundai Motorsport, the Korean manufacturer’s official team in the World Rally Championship. Representing it on the San Marino special stages will be Dani Sordo, alongside Patricia Saiz, at the wheel of the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 in gravel specification. For the Spanish driver, San Marino is no unexplored territory: Sordo already took part in Rallylegend in 2023, on the occasion of the 21st edition, at the wheel of the Hyundai i20 WRC. A return, then, that fans will welcome warmly, given also the Spaniard’s popularity and his close relationship with the public.
The Hyundai Motorsport crew will be on track from Thursday to Saturday in the non-competitive Legend Stars category, designed purely for spectacle, before taking on the Memorial Bettega on Sunday.
“Rallylegend is always an interesting event to be part of, bringing together many different cars and drivers from rallying. I’m happy to be there again with Hyundai Motorsport and to have the opportunity to drive the Hyundai i20 N Rally1. We want to enjoy driving the car and putting on a good show for the fans. I’m looking forward to being back in San Marino and enjoying the event with the team.” – Dani Sordo, Hyundai driver
MEMORIAL BETTEGA: THE GROUP A TROPHY RETURNS
Sunday’s Memorial Bettega also shines a spotlight on the Group A Trophy, the challenge that brings back to the track eight protagonists of an era that wrote unforgettable pages in rally history. On the start line: Piero Liatti (Subaru), Gustavo Trelles (Subaru), Andrea Aghini (Lancia Delta 16V), Andrea Navarra (Subaru), Franco Cunico (Ford Sierra), Piero Longhi (Toyota Celica), Armin Schwarz (Toyota Celica) and Raul Marchisio (Lancia Delta 16V). They will be joined by four Rally2 cars.
SIX FOUR-WHEELED LEGENDS OF SANDRO MUNARI ON DISPLAY AT THE RALLYLEGEND VILLAGE
The Rallylegend Village dedicates a special chapter to Sandro Munari, one of the drivers who made the history of Lancia and Italian rallying great: four victories at the Monte Carlo Rally and a European Rally Championship title forever link him to cars that have gone down in legend, such as the Fulvia HF and the Stratos HF. For the occasion, six of his original cars will be on display to the public: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relive up close one of the most glorious eras in rally history.
PAOLO VALLI
Rallylegend Event manager
“Hyundai Motorsport’s return to Rallylegend, with a driver of Dani Sordo’s calibre, is further confirmation of how our event has become a benchmark for world rallying, at every level. But this edition has an extra reason to be special: the Memorial Bettega, after months of anticipation, becomes part of Rallylegend’s history, bringing Group B, WRC, ex-Group A and Rally2 cars together in a contest our fans have been waiting for.”
VITO PIARULLI
Rallylegend Event manager
“The Group A Trophy is our way of paying tribute to those who made Italian rallying great in an unrepeatable era, just as we do with Sandro Munari’s cars, which we will bring on display. These are stories that find their natural home at Rallylegend, and that we want to keep telling at every edition.”
