Giovinazzi, Dovizioso, Brivio and Gualini at Rallylegend

Republic of San Marino. Somebody creatively referred to the week leading up to Rallylegend, taking place from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 October, as “Holy Rally Week”.

Huge number of enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond prepare to travel to the Republic of San Marino where they will celebrate the twentieth edition of one of the most highly anticipated motoring events of the season, together with an incredible group of big names in the motorsport world.

And the stars continue to come, adding their names to the long list of champions taking part in the rally or spectacular Legend Stars, and the personalities who will enliven the many events and activities inside Rally Village.

Antonio Giovinazzi, Formula 1 and Formula E driver as well as the third Ferrari F1 driver, will be a guest at the official Sparco stand at Rallylegend on Saturday 15 October. The only Italian driver competing at the very top level has trusted in Sparco ever since he made his karting debut, more than twenty years ago. His visit will be an opportunity to spend time with friends, fans and professional drivers past and present who have contributed to the history of motorsport.

Andrea Dovizioso, former MotoGP rider with the factory Ducati team, has very recently retired from racing, having run his last race at San Marino just a few weeks ago. He has long been a rally fan and now, in collaboration with Rallylegend, the Italian is set to see one of his dreams come true. In an event that is still in development, on Sunday 16 October “Dovi” will complete laps of The Legend special stage at the wheel of a beautiful Lancia 037 Safari version, made available by a private collector.

Davide Brivio will also be at Rallylegend to breathe in that rally atmosphere that he loves so much. Another enthusiast, Davide has enjoyed a long career as Team Manager, which exploded during Valentino Rossi’s winning years with Yamaha in MotoGP, from 2004 to 2010, and continued with VR46, before he moved to the Suzuki MotoGP team in 2013, carrying them to victory in the MotoGP World Championship with Joan Mir in 2020. Since 2020 he has been Racing Director for the Alpine Formula 1 Team.

Adding his name to the list of champions who will talk about their feats during “Dakar The Legend” is Beppe Gualini, known as “Gualo”, a rider with 10 Dakar Rallies to his name, but also a total of 65 African races, spanning polar cold, desert and jungle, since the early 80s. These include the Camel Trophy, but this legendary African race of the 80s and 90s also saw the participation of the Land Rover, perfectly restored and included among the “dakarian” vehicles on show at Rallylegend. It is important to note that the “African” space at Rallylegend 2022 is developed in collaboration with Mirco Urbinati, a rider and event organizer who is also responsible for the Transitalia Marathon.

As previously announced, newly crowned 2022 world rally champion, Kalle Rovanpera, and Jari-Matti Latvala, Team Principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, are both ready to celebrate at Rallylegend and will take to the wheel of important 90s Toyota Celica rally cars belonging to the Latvala Group collection. It’s only right that Toyota Gazoo Racing Italy, the very active Italian branch of Toyota racing activity, is in attendance at Rallylegend, flanking the event’s other main partners and with its own hospitality inside Rally Village.

ANTIGUA LEGEND CUP IS BACK WITH RALLYLEGEND 2022. And they double up!!!

The 10.th edition of Rallylegend 2022 is combined with Antigua Legend Cup.

Firmly desired by the inexhaustible Carlo Falcone, Honorary Consul of Italy on the island of Antigua, the event will as usually have an alternative classification compared to the classic ones: Antigua Legend Cup will make use of the rules of Sailing Regattas in order to allow the slower performing race cars to compete with the faster ones; creating coefficients based on the performance of the cars (TCF – Time Corrector Factor).

For the winner there will as usual be a great prize. The driver that wins the first place in the Trophy Antigua Legend Cup 2022, also wins a stay at Antigua Yacht Club Marina and Resort. But that is not all!

This year, Carlo Falcone wants to go even further and in order to celebrate the 10.th edition of the Antigua Legend Cup combined with Rallylegend, he has also created Antigua Legend Cup Special Edition “Champion of the Champions”.

Antigua Legend Cup Special Edition “Champion of the Champions” will be held from the 19.th to the 21.st of January 2023 by Antigua Pro Racing and with the support of Antigua Yacht Club Marina and Resort. The winners of the previous ten editions of Antigua Legend Cup and Rallylegend from 2013 to 2022 are invited to participate. On top of the 10 winners of Antigua Legend Cup, also 2 “wild card” drivers are to be added at the discretion of the organizers.

Antigua Legend Cup Special Edition “Champion of the Champions” will be held on the island of Antigua, and will utilize a sport facility situated close to the capital of Saint John’s, and also the dirt-track race at “Crabbs Raceway Antigua” that has already been operating for a few years.

All the different phases of the race will be carried out “side-by-side” in several laps of the track at “Crabbs Raceway Antigua” and with parallel starts.

The drivers will take turns in the cars (BMW and SUBARU) offered by the organizer, with the final race being on a Toyota Corolla WRC.
